Miss Viola Blake was born in Belize City on November 23, 1974. From an early age, her love for teaching manifested itself in helping her peers in understanding their assignments, and this later became tutoring in high school. She graduated from St. John’s College Junior College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and later went on to attend the University of Belize, where she graduated with highest honours with an Associate’s Degree in Primary Education in 2012. Her passion for numbers was born while doing Accounting at high school and further developed at the University of Belize.  She came on board at Horizon Academy at the school’s inception in 2009.

Miss Blake is presently the homeroom teacher of the 2014 – 2015 Standard 4 class.She is also the Math teacher for Standard 4, 5 and 6 and the Spanish teacher for Standard 1 to Standard 6.  In her homeroom class, her modus operandi is to encourage responsibility, independence and self-confidence. She is firm in the classroom but enjoys interacting with students, even occasionally through sports. Her pitching and catching on the softball field often result in comments from her students such as, “Miss, you dah di baddest!”
