Std. 5 Teacher
I am Victoria Burgos Perez, and I was born and raised in Belize City. I am the youngest of four daughters. I have been married for almost four years, and I am the mother of one son. After completing college, I returned home with a background in Psychology and Social Work. I love working with children; I have been fortunate enough to have had the experience of working with young people as a former troop Scout leader for the 9th Belize St. Ignatius Scout Troop. I have also worked with youths in schools as well as with teachers as the Awareness Coordinator for the Youth Enhancement Services' (YES) Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children Campaign.
I began working as a teacher when Horizon opened its doors in 2009, and I was excited to be a part of a groundbreaking new school, a school built for and around the needs of students. I have enjoyed my time here at Horizon and feel that the experience has helped me to sharpen my skills as a teacher. Now in my sixth year of teaching, I am currently also a student at the University of Belize, completing my Certificate in Primary Education.
I believe that a good education is the most valuable thing you can give to a child. As a teacher, I hope not only to impart knowledge to our students, but also to broaden their horizons, to help them build the critical and social skills that they will need to help them maneuver the next level of their journey.
